Modern Condo Features at Appoline
Apolline is at the confluence of O Street, 20th Street, and New Hampshire Avenue, just a block from the famed traffic circle with the inner park. This particular area, where Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire Avenues converge, saw a busy period of commercial development during the 1960s. The construction boom occurred before the Dupont Historic District was created in 1976, and it resulted in the demolition of many grand old mansions that had stood along Dupont’s widest corridors and near their intersections. The Apolline was initially built as luxury apartment rentals and was renovated and converted to condominium ownership in 1979. Dupont Circle's surrounding neighborhoods include Kalorama to the north, Logan Circle to the east, the West End to the southwest, and Georgetown to the west.
The 10-story Apolline is home to an assortment of condo layouts, many of which have changed over the years due to remodels from individual owners. What hasn’t changed is the midcentury contemporary penchant for extra-wide windows, often in series. The original floors were parquet hardwood, and many owners have opted to switch those out for wide-plank and/or engineered wood flooring. That said, the parquet design has made a comeback recently, and there are many who choose to partner parquet floors and wide window sectionals with artwork and furniture that pay homage to the resurgent modernism ethos. The kitchens at Apolline are usually open or semi-open to the main living and dining areas, with stone counters and updated appliances.
Residents at the luxury building enjoy a front lobby with a 24-hour staffed front desk and concierge service. There is also a heated rooftop swimming pool and lounge with grilling areas. The building has a parking garage, and there are onsite laundry facilities. The condos do not have washer and dryer hookups, however. Additionally, pets are not allowed. The building is in a very walkable area with plenty of nearby bakeries, bars, and restaurants such as Starbucks, Le Pain Quotidien, Firefly, Ristorante I Ricchi, The Admiral, Toastique, Teddy & the Bully Bar, and so many more. Nearby grocery stores include Streets Market, Safeway, and Whole Foods.
