The eight-story apartment buildings at River Park Mutual Homes have cubist themes complemented by stylish concrete latticework, while the townhouses have barrel-shaped metal roofs reminiscent of the futuristic Googie movement. City planners worked hand-in-glove with Goodman, and other notable modernists and urban planners such as I.M. Pei, Chloetheil Woodward Smith, and the team of Lethbridge, Keyes, and Condon. These prominent architects often collaborated on both residential and commercial properties throughout the Washington Metro region, from government buildings to condos and co-ops, single-family homes, and even entire neighborhoods.
As with the other condos and cooperative developments from this era, the units at River Park Mutual Homes have often gone through changes, renovations, and remodels over the years, whether common upgrades by management or makeovers from individual owners.
