The Maryland Condominium - Luxury Modern Condos in Washington, DC

Modern Living at the Maryland Condominium in the H Street Corridor, Washington, DC

When Valor Development wanted to build a large condominium project at the site of the former Faith Bible Church, local community members and a neighborhood advisory group got involved. The result was the Maryland, a successful collaboration guided by the Akseizer Design Group. Located at 1350 Maryland Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002, the old church had long since closed and the H Street Corridor itself was a neighborhood in transition. The new development is home to some 84 handsome condo units with modern interior designs.

Modern Condo Features at The Maryland

Completed in 2015, the Maryland is home to some 84 residences in one and two-bedroom configurations. There are three design options among the condos, including three different color schemes, and three different types of Kahrs hardwood floors. Layouts typically range from approximately 500 to 1,015 square feet with some outliers at the penthouse level. Washington, DC’s H Street Corridor has seen a number of new or renovated condo developments in recent years, including Constellation on H, the Pierce School LoftsPullman Place, and Seven|H.

The expansive lot at 1350 Maryland Ave wraps around the corner at 14th Street, extending partway down that block as well. This gave the developer and architects a chance to build one of the largest new condo projects in the city. The exterior of the building combines red brick, limestone, and green metal for an appearance that is modern while still drawing inspiration from the past. The condos themselves are bright and airy, with oversized windows and open gourmet kitchens featuring white quartz counters, sleek wood cabinetry, and stainless steel KitchenAid appliances. Other nice perks include private outdoor spaces, and luxe bathrooms with Bluetooth shower heads. The building has a staffed front desk with concierge service, a residents lounge, and a rooftop deck with shuffleboard courts and grills. There is also a secure parking garage with 42 spaces, meaning some but not all condos come with assigned spots.

The neighborhood itself is quite historic and was once known for a combination of shopping and entertainment, along with a streetcar line that was in service for a full century. These days, a new condominium stands where a church once was, Murry’s Food Store is now a Whole Foods Market, and the venerable old Atlas Movie Theater has been transformed into the new Atlas Performing Arts Center. The slender urban village not far from Capitol Hill is yet another example of an ever evolving federal city that still retains indelible memories from the past. And while the original streetcar line has long since disappeared from the scene, a new one has taken its place, with the H Street Trolley providing free rides along the revitalized corridor with its numerous bars, restaurants, bakeries, art galleries, and indie boutique shops.
