The Cosmopolitan Condominiums
Located at 715 6th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001 | Penn Quarter
Offering 46 chic residences across 12 stories, the Cosmopolitan is contemporary condominium in a vibrant Downtown DC setting. Delivered in 2005, the mixed-use development with street level commercial space features a retro exterior design with modern lifestyle residences inside. Located along 6th Street between G and H Streets, the condo building is right across from the Verizon Center with its live concerts and NBA action.
As with many parts of this thriving urban core, neighborhood boundaries tend to overlap. The Cosmopolitan is generally regarded to be in the Penn Quarter but is also very close to next-door Chinatown. But no matter what you call it, this is an area that has experienced numerous stages of transition and growth over the District’s lengthy history. The Cosmopolitan arose from the footprint of an older commercial building and retains some of Art Deco flavor once inherent in the area. Other recent condominium projects in the Penn Quarter community include 440 Mass Ave, the Artisan, Clara Barton, and the Lafayette.

The kitchens are open to the living and dining areas, with dark granite counters, lovely, oversized wood cabinets, and upscale stainless steel appliances. The Cosmopolitan has carved out a nice niche in the Penn Quarter/Chinatown Corridor. It’s not a huge condo complex yet it’s not quite a boutique project either. Parking is available for some but not all residences. The building is pet-friendly but some breed restrictions may apply. The neighborhood is also part of the charm with numerous nearby bars, coffeehouses, restaurants, shops, museums and entertainment. The Verizon Center across the street is home to the NBA’s Washington Wizards, and Chinatown’s famous Friendship Archway is about a block away. Equally close is the Gallery Place Shopping Mall as well as the Gallery Place Metro Station.
