Modern Condo Features at the Historic Papermill Condominium
The Papermill condominium building is fronted along Water Street, which is synonymous with K Street in this part of Georgetown. The recently revamped Georgetown Waterfront Park is directly across the street. The complex of lookalike buildings is bound by Cecil Place to the east, Grace Street to the north, and Potomac Street to the west. In other words, it’s a byzantine maze of residences, blending in with other old Georgetown brick structures in one of Washington, DC’s most popular and walk-friendly destinations places.
Also known as Papermill on the Potomac, the original brick structure features a plaque the recounts the history of one of the oldest papermills in America. The District of Columbia Paper Company continued its operation until 1950. The midcentury era saw a bevy of construction in the area, including the adjacent Whitehurst Freeway. By the 1970s, planning was underway for a massive renovation and expansion of the original industrial buildings. Flash forward to the present and you’ll find a nice variety of condos at the Papermill, with both one and two-bedroom floorplans, ranging in size from roughly 660 to 1,380 square feet. Gourmet kitchens, quality finishes, and huge windows add to the allure. Some of the units also have dens, and wood-burning fireplaces. South-facing, upper level residences enjoy wonderful views of the Potomac River. Building amenities include a roof deck, parking, interior courtyards, swimming pool, and more.
The Paper Mill Court townhomes also come in varying sizes and layouts, typically from around 900 to 1,200 square feet, with hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, wood-burning fireplaces, and private terraces. This part of the complex has its own courtyards and a community swimming pool. The large city block that comprises both the Papermill on the Potomac and Paper Mill Court, is in the very heart of the Georgetown waterfront, between the Potomac River and the historic Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. The number of shops, restaurants, bakeries, and bars is simply staggering. The AMC Georgetown 14 is also just one block away on K Street.
