Modern Condo Features at the Residences at Harbourside

Themes of modernism continue inside both buildings as well, including the open and airy condos with up to 6,000 square feet of living space, huge window walls and sublime views of the Potomac River. Six of the seven residences are two-level penthouses with absolutely stunning private roof decks up to 3,000 square feet in size. The floors originally came in options of either Brazilian cherry or walnut, and the open chef-inspired kitchens have honed stone counters and Miele appliances. Other features include private elevators, gas fireplaces, marble baths, and various bonus spaces such as libraries. Garage parking is included with each unit.

The architect for the Residences at Harbourside was Washington, DC icon Arthur Cotton Moore who had been responsible for the next-door Washington Harbour complex and condos some years earlier. The House of Sweden was designed by Swedish architects Gert Winegardh and Tomas Hansen. Moore adapted the contours of the condominium building so that it would have an aesthetic not dissimilar to the Swedish-designed structure.

The developer was noted venture capitalist Alan Novak, who had his own 6,000 square foot penthouse in the building custom designed by Richard Williams, with ceilings soaring two stories high, and a private rooftop terrace heated swimming pool and sauna. Not all the residences are quite that swanky, but they certainly belong to a rarefied class of luxury homes in Washington, DC. Amenities at the building include a fully staffed front desk with concierge service, an impressive fitness center, secure garage parking, and extra storage.

The expansive condos are a stone’s throw from the Potomac and next-door to Washington Harbour with its waterfront restaurants, shops, ice rink, and boat cruises. The area was once home to colonial era warehouses and docks, and then turned to factories and industrial use. A period of neglect led to a long, concerted cleanup campaign that ultimately resulted in the luxurious Georgetown waterfront lifestyle experience that is so popular today. Restaurants within easy strolling distance include Sequoia DC, Guapo’s, Farmers Fishers Bakers, Susheria, Fiola Mare, Nick’s Riverside Grill, Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place, and more. The Georgetown Waterfront Park is a wonderful place to walk and relax, and there are also numerous rental opportunities to kayak and paddleboard on the river.
